By far, the best advice I’ve ever been given in respect to working in the creative field was today during Morihiro Harano’s seminar. He said “don’t make another shit for shit.” Simple yet brilliant advice!
If something isn’t working, dont just give refresh it…change it. Do something different. If it’s shit…it will continue to be shit. Do better!
The second thing I learned from Morihiro’s talk was this: to succeed and set yourself apart from the competition, you must go beyond what is expected. Morihiro’s company, PARTY, doesn’t go to a client with just an idea. They create a prototype to show the client. They go beyond.
This advice is applicable to everything you do in life. Do Not Create Shit and Do More! This does not mean that you need to do things the hard way. Do things as simply as you can, but do more than is required. Go above and beyond. Set yourself apart from your competitors. If you want your clients to believe in you, you must give them a reason to.
